Acknowledgments
Many thanks to all whose work, research, and expertise helped me in the creation of the independent study. I would like to acknowledge especially the following individuals and groups who were especially integral to my process.
Lee Buell, who worked closely with me, keeping me accountable during this entire independent Study process, has been a key player in the development of the program at Knox College.
Joseph Taylor and the team at Knox College Special Collections and Archives, whose assistance with archival research and formatting of citations was invaluable to completing this work.
Abby Fyre and the staff at the Carl Sandburg Library, who supported me in my research on Herbert Priestley.
Jennifer Andrella and my coworkers at the Abolition Lab, who not only created the initial website for the Restorative Justice Hub but also gave me the skills and confidence to create an entire digital website for my independent study.
The 2022-2023 and 2024-2025 Knox-Hill Cohorts, both inside and outside students, for giving me the privilege of learning alongside them, an experience that has forever transformed my academic and personal trajectory.
Finally, Leanne Trapedo Sims, whose vision and expertise made this project possible. Without her work, none of this would exist.
Thank you all for your support during this process.
